The prostate is a male sex gland. Its’s main function is to produce seminal fluid. It invariably grows with age and can become infected/inflammed (called prostatitis) or cancerous. As it grows it can cause a blockage to the urinary flow, but can lead to bladder infection, blood in the urine, bladder stones or even kidney failure. Prostatitis can cause severe pelvic pain. Prostate cancer often cause no problems in its early stages, but can be detected by a PSA blood test.
