Adrenal problems

[tabs type=”horizontal”]

[tab title=”Overview”]

The adrenal glands are positioned on top of the two kidneys. They are responsible for producing hormones such as cortisol, adrenalin, androgens and aldosterone. They can become overactive (causing a number of widespread problems), enlarged or sometimes cancerous. Adrenal problems are normally first managed by Endocrinology Doctors with medication, but surgery may be a treatment option which is discussed.[/tab]

[tab title=”Surgical Management”]

After assessment by an Endocrinologist it might be proposed that an enlarged or overactive adrenal gland should be surgically removed. This requires referral to a surgeon with appropriate skills and training, such as Mr Anurag Golash.[/tab]
