Erection problems
Impotence, erection problems (including a bent erection) or erectile dysfunction affect 1 in 10 men in the UK and become more common later in life. Over 50% of men over the age of 40 will experience erection problems at some point. In many cases the disease can be attributable to other diseases such as diabetes, heart disease or previous surgery. Careful, sympathetic assessment is required in a discreet and relaxed environment. Modern treatments have become more effective at improving erections and can enable patients to regain confidence.
Investigations
As well as a careful assessment some simple investigations are required in all men with erection problems. We recommend all patients have blood tests including a glucose test and a testosterone level (the male hormone). If your specialist is concerned about other medical conditions that may contribute to your condition then he can organise appropriate assessment and treatment.
