During the procedure, whilst under general anaesthetic 3 (left side) or 4 (right side) small holes are used to introduce instruments into the abdomen. These instruments are used to cut around the renal pelvis and upper ureter. The ureter is then dismembered from the pelvis, spatulated and reanastomised leaving a ureteric stent for 6 weeks.
